Want to become a teacher?

Are you interested in becoming a teacher (either primary or secondary)? If so, please e-mail Miss Clarke to let her know. Mrs. Hodgetts is organising some 'coaching training' for a group of students in the Sixth Form. It will take place later in the summer term and will provide you with the skills and experience that university admissions tutors are looking for.

Pasta Mania in the Canteen!

From next tuesday (29th April), healthy new pasta pots will be sold in the school canteen. A big pot of pasta with a tasty sauce of your choice will cost £1.50. On launch day there will be a free milkshake too for every student buying a pasta pot! If Sixth Form students like the new pasta pots Nicky, the school's catering manager, will try and ensure they are sold within the Sixth Form block. Come along all next week to try these new delicious dishes for yourself!

WhatUni.com

Dear Year 12,

We have added a new link to the Blog - www.whatuni.com - which is a fantastic new website where students already studying at universities can give you independent reviews as to life at their uni. The site also has course information for different universities and is well worth looking at before you decide which Open Days that you are interested in going to in the next few months.

Advice on filling out UCAS

In response to several questions we have been asked regarding entering your Module grades into UCAS apply we have been given this answer by UCAS :

"Over the past few weeks, we have received a number of queries about students entering their AS level and A level qualifications in Apply. One commonly asked question is the inclusion of unit grades. To clarify any confusion there may be, we can confirm that entering unit grades is entirely optional. Although we recommend that students do include details of their units with a separate grade/result, this is at their own discretion or on the advice and preference of their school or college."

Message from Mr Ginnings : History Trip

I’m planning to take a 6th form trip to Berlin between March 25th and March 30th 2008. Please can you circulate this email to Y12 & Y13 informing them of the provisional dates and that the likely cost will be around £370-420. An initial deposit of £100 will be required. I’m aware that with Xmas on the way, parents will need to budget – especially as the final payment will be required 10 weeks before departure i.e. end of January. I am awaiting a final price to be confirmed (which is obviously numbers dependent).

A formal letter with reply slips, etc will be available in the first week back after half term.
